1979 March　Company established with capital of 300 million JPY.開く

IHARANIKKEI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD. was established with 300 million JPY in capital through joint investment by Nippon Light Metal Co.,Ltd. and KUMIAI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD.

1979 June　Construction begins on a factory in Kambara, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture.開く

Construction begins on a factory in Kambara, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Nippon Light Metal Co.,Ltd., located next door, manufactures and develops Caustic soda, Chlorine, and Hydrogen generated by chloro‐alkali electrolysis, as well as secondary products that can be made using these substances, and we are supplied with some of the Chlorine.

1980 January　Production plant No.1 established開く

Production of p-Chlorobenzyl chloride was started as a raw material for the parent company, KUMIAI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD.

1980 September　Production plant No.2 established開く

Production of p-Chlorotoluene/o-Chlorotoluene from Toluene began. The completion of the dignified, towering two 50-meter distillation towers is a symbol of our company and marks the first step toward further expanding Chlorotoluene sales around the world.

1980 October　Increased capital to 600 million JPY

1981 February　Production plant No.3 established開く

Production of P-Chlorobenzotrichloride was started.

1983　Tokyo office opened.開く

New product research for the future was started.

1984 March　Production plant No.4 established開く

We started production of o-Toluoyl Chloride as a raw material for the parent company, KUMIAI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD. Currently, the plant is used for the production of other Acid chlorides.

1985 March　Production plant No.5 established開く

Amid expectations of increased demand for Chlorotoluene derivatives as agrochemical and pharmaceutical raw materials in Japan and abroad, we completed construction of a Hydrolysis facility and began production of p-Chlorobenzaldehyde and o-Chlorobenzaldehyde in order to establish a supply system for the global market.

1985 March　Increased Capital to 780 million JPY

1990 October　Production plant No.6 established. Production of Xylene derivatives was expanded.開く

The facility began operation as a means of entering the Xylene Chlorination field and of overcoming the situation where existing Chlorination facilities were no longer able to meet demand. It has Crystallization, Filtration, and Drying processes, and our first powder products were produced. Demand for our main product, α,α'-Dichloro-p-xylene, grew steadily, as did demand for the same Xylene derivative, Isophthaloyl chloride/Terephthaloyl chloride.

1996 February　 Achieved ISO 9002 certification

1996 November　Production plant No.7 established開く

The plant was constructed to meet the rapidly increasing demand for α,α'-dichloro-p-xylene for electrical materials. Since then, the plant has been in operation to produce raw materials for high-performance materials.

2002 January　Achieved ISO 14001 certification

2003 February　Achieved ISO 9001 certification

2010 June　Production plant No.7 capacity expanded

2015 March　Production plant No.7 capacity expanded

2016 November　Iharanikkei Chemical (Thailand) Co., Ltd. established in Thailand開く

In response to the expansion of the aramid fiber market, we established a Thai subsidiary, Iharanikkei Chemical (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to increase production of Isophthaloyl chloride/Terephthaloyl chloride, a monomer used to make aramid fibers.

2018 September　Production plant No.1 of Iharanikkei Chemical　(Thailand) Co., Ltd. established開く

Production of Isophthaloyl chloride has started in Thailand.

2020 December　Production plant No.2 of Iharanikkei Chemical　(Thailand) Co., Ltd. established開く

Production of Terephthaloyl chloride has started in Thailand.
