DATA PRIVACY STATEMENT FOR GDPR

IHARANIKKEI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO., LTD, (the "Company") respects the ethos of the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") that the security of personal data is a fundamental human right, recognises the importance of privacy protection and is committed to protecting and appropriately managing the personal data of individual customers or employees of corporate customers who reside in the EU ("Customers").
To protect Customers' personal data, the Company will comply with the GDPR and other EU data protection or privacy laws and guidelines and appropriately process Customers' personal data as set out below.

1. The processing of personal data
 The Company processes Customers' personal data obtained from them and, in relation to employees of corporate customers, Customers' personal data obtained from their employers where such processing is necessary to perform the agreements with the Customers (or their employers), where Customers have consented to such processing (such consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting the Company using the contact details set out below) or where such processing is necessary for a legitimate interest of the Company or any third party.
The Company processes the following categories of personal data about Customers.  In this document, "processing" means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.

  • Customers' names, ages, sex/gender, birth dates, nationalities, birth places, educational background, professional background, years of employment, hobbies, food and drink preferences, current employers, departments, job titles, office addresses, office phone numbers, office fax numbers, office email addresses, personal phone numbers, personal fax numbers, personal email addresses

  • Purchase history of products, products, services and information of interest, the details of access to the Company's facilities, systems or websites

The Company may process the following special categories of personal data to appropriately satisfy food related requests due to allergies, medical conditions, or religions when Customers visit the Company.

2. Data Controller
The Company processes individual customers' personal data as a data controller. The Company appoints data protection managers in accordance with the Company's policy documents.  The Company also ensures the accuracy and security of personal data in accordance with the Company's policy documents.


3. Purposes of processing personal data
The Company processes Customers' personal data for the following purposes:

(1) Delivery of technical information on use of the Company's products;
(2) Marketing activities such as collection and analysis of data and questionnaires to develop new products or improve services;
(3) Delivery of catalogues, booklets and leaflets introducing the Company's products;
(4) Response to queries or complaints about the Company's products;
(5) Risk management and compliance;
(6) Administration of the security of and access to the Company's facilities, systems and websites; or
(7) Any other business related to these purposes.

The Company processes the personal data of employees of corporate customers for the following purposes:
(1) Business meetings, business communication, delivery of information related to the Company's products and services;
(2) Arrangements for business meetings or other events including meals;
(3) Risk management and compliance; or
(4) Administration of the security of and access to the Company's facilities, systems and websites

The Company will inform Customers of the new purpose and other information items prescribed in laws before the Company processes Customers' personal data for any other purpose.  

The Company will retain Customers' personal data as long as necessary to fulfil the above-mentioned purposes and delete any such personal data soon after such personal data becomes unnecessary.  

The Company may transfer Customers' personal data to the Company's subsidiaries and affiliated companies and any third parties including cloud service providers and other service providers for the purposes set out above, and to government agencies in accordance with laws.

The Company may transfer Customers' personal data to third parties located in countries that the European Commission has not recognised as countries ensuring an adequate level of protection of personal data.  In this case, the Company will take appropriate safeguards in accordance with the GDPR.  For further information on the safeguards, please contact the Company using the contact details set out below.


4. Customers' rights in relation to the processing of their personal data
Under certain circumstances prescribed in the GDPR, Customers have the right to access Customers' personal data the Company holds, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, or the right to data portability.  Please contact the Company using the contact details set out below if you wish to exercise any of these rights.
In addition, Customers are entitled to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority of each EU member state in relation to the Company's processing of their personal data.
